
Drummer Luis Fernando Mello, known as Louis Bear, a member of the group The Cross, has died. The announcement was made, on the night of this Friday (19), by the band’s vocalist, Eduardo Slayer, in the official profile of the group.
“On behalf of The Cross, I Eduardo Slayer, and my teammates Paulo Monteiro, Daniel Fauaze and Leandro Kastiphas, on this devastating day in our lives, when we lost our drummer, brother, friend and producer Louis,” reads the text.
According to the statement, Louis Bear was performing at the time he fell ill and died. “He left this plan today doing what he loved most, playing the drums. At the moment, we don’t have words to describe the devastating feeling of loss, but at the same time, we only have gratitude. to Louis and his entire family, to all the musicians and bands with whom he has given the honor of offering his talent for the sake of art.”
The cause of death and information about the musician’s burial were not released.
The Cross, created in Salvador in the 90’s, is the first doom metal band in Latin America. Louis Bear also played in the bands Mystifier, Drearylands and Shadows.
