Manny Charlton has died at the age of 80, his grandson Jamie Charlton confirmed on Facebook on Wednesday
The founding guitarist of Scottish rock band Nazareth, Manny Charlton, has died aged 80.
The rockers were best known for tunes such as Love Hurts and Manny's death was confirmed by bandmate and bassist Pete Agnew to Classic Rock Magazine.
And Manny's grandson Jamie also shared a message on Facebook in respect of his grandad. Alongside a snap of the pair together, Jamie wrote: "RIP Grandad," alongside two broken heart emojis.
No cause of death has been revealed as of yet.
Fans were quick to comment on his post with words of respect.
One user wrote: "I’ve lost a dear friend as well as one of my all time guitar heros [sic]."

Another penned: "So sorry to hear this Jamie. Fantastic memories of the time I spent with him, and chats we had on the phone. A great guy and amazing guitar player. Sending love."
And a third said: "Jamie - I am so very sorry to hear of your grandfather's passing. Not only was he an amazingly talented guitar player and producer he was also a fantastic person.
"Sincere condolences to you and your family on his passing. R.I.P. Manny, you will be forever remembered and missed. xoxo"
Nazareth was formed in 1968 and found success with its 1973 third LP Razamanaz.
Other top 10 hits in the UK included Broken Down Angel, Bad Bad Boy and Loud and Proud.
The group's sixth studio disc, which featured a reworking of Love Hurts, hit number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 to help achieve success stateside.
As well as Nazareth success, Manny was brought in by Geffen Records in 1986 to oversee demos for Guns N' Roses.

Speaking to Loudersound recently, Manny said the band "were like Aerosmith and the Stones — especially with the image they had."
He added: "They were just a bunch of young guys living their rock ’n’ roll dreams and having the time of their lives. I never foresaw that they would become one of the biggest bands in rock history."
After quitting Nazareth, manny released a solo album and also formed the Manny Charlton Band.
