Veteran juju singer Dayo Kujore died on Monday at 63.

The late musician was confirmed dead at the Lagos State University Teaching (LASUTH) where he was receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

Here are 11 things you probably didn’t know about Dayo Kujore:

· Dayo Kujore was born on April 4, 1958 in Abeokuta, Ogun state by Michael Odejimi and Esther Kujore who was also known as Iya Ijo of African church in Igboro.

· He attended the African Church Primary School and proceeded to African Church Secondary School for his post-elementary education.

· Upon the completion of his secondary education, he enrolled at Sabo Technical School, Ojuelegba, Lagos State where he trained as an engineer.

· He was about 10 when he started playing the guitar in church while his elder brother was a choirmaster.

· As a guitarist in African Church Igboro, he brought fame and wealth into his family. Also, his dexterity on the guitar earned him the nickname, Wonder Boy.

· Dayo Kujore was motivated to play Juju music by Joseph Oguntade who used to come to African church in Igboro during harvest festival to play Juju music.

· He emerged onto the music scene in 1991 with the album ‘Super Jet’.

· He created the Soko brand of Juju music.

· His role model was the late Prince Adekunle and he was the lead guitar on the albums: ‘Aditu Ede Adekunle Gbede’, ‘Eda Nreti Eleya’, ‘Nibo left Toluwasi’, ‘You Tell Me That You Love Me Baby’ and many more.

· His first album titled ‘Ha! Jesu Mbe’ was released in 1977. Others are ‘Elevation’, ‘Wisdom’, ‘Joy’, ‘Easy Life’, and the popular ‘Soko Xtra’.

· Dayo Kujore had several wives and blessed with lovely children, including Ayinke Kujore, the Juju singer’s last child who is a broadcaster.
