Mourners were asked to wear bright clothes to remember the schoolgirl, who was swept to her death at a waterfall beauty spot near Dunkeld, Perthshire last week.
They showed up dressed as princesses and fairies and carried balloons in the shapes of rainbows and unicorns.
Children were among the crowds who showed up at Freya’s school Cleppington Primary in Dundee, to pay tribute.

Freya was taken through the city in a horse-drawn carriage before a service at the crematorium, which was limited to just 30 people.
Before the funeral Brooke, 26, told mourners: “Embrace the fairy and princess theme because I know Freya wouldn’t want anyone in black.
“This is a celebration of her life. A farewell ball for the beautiful sweetheart that she was, not just to me but to everyone she met.”

The crowds gave Freya a round of applause as she arrived in her princess carriage and another as she headed off on her last journey. A police escort led the procession through the city.
On top of the coffin was a bouquet spelling out her name and another in the shape of a unicorn’s head.
One message said: “Sleep tight angel.”
Freya and her mum were playing in the fairy pools at the Hermitage beauty spot in the River Braan on July 7 when the tragedy happened.
Brooke revealed she tried to cling on to her daughter after they were both swept away by the current.
Freya was pulled from the water by rescuers and both were taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, where medics were unable to save the youngster.A crowdfunder campaign raised more than £23,000 to give her the perfect party.
