In 2011 success of Necropolis expo boosted enormously with the slogan: “Changing the concept of the exhibition, remain faithful to the idea”. The exhibition took place in Moscow on 25-27 October.
Necropolis show can boast an on-going development, growth and aspirations to correspond world quality standards. It provides platform not only for trade visitors, but also for scientific and cultural concepts. As usual the Conference “Modern Approaches to Funeral Business Management” took place during the first two days of the exhibition. Mr. Sergey Yakushin, the founder of the Museum of World Funeral Culture in Russia presented at this Conference the unique project of Memorial Concerts, implemented in 2011 at Novosibirsk Crematorium. 3 Memorial Concerts dedicated to World Children's Day, World War 2, and "Therapy of Soul" project took place this year.
The Conference has become an integral part of Necropolis exhibition and together they provide the best place for funeral professionals to broaden their knowledge, expand capabilities, get practical advice, new business contacts, get acquainted with innovations in the field, and a good platform for the Russian funeral legislation improvement.
This year generally has become significant for organizations supporting preservation and development of funeral culture. Society of Necropolists and Museum of World Funeral Culture were present at the exhibition with very informative stands. Visitors and exhibitors were greatly impressed by the international cultural project “Exotic Coffins of Ghana” with 2 Unique coffins made in Russia for the Funeral Museum by world known master Eric Adjetey Anang, presenting the very different African funeral culture.
Traditional fashion show this year displayed the woks of young designers in black-and-white colors.
Vice President and Secretary of China Funeral Association Mr. Zhang Hongchang headed the visit of delegation of the Association to Necropolis-2011. He heartily welcomed all visitors and exhibitors at the official opening of the expo and expressed sincere admiration.
Italian funeral artist Valentina Renda Puzzuoli, introduced to Russian society by Hottex company, highlighted that coffins are usually dull and featureless, so she decided to paint them and symbolize the importance of the life of the departed, and support the Culture of Memorizing.
Novosibirsk Factory of Special Articles presented two extremely new technologies. One being used all over the world, but new to the Russian funeral market – hermetic foil for repatriations replacing a zinc coffin. And the other – pressure chamber for surface embalming. This pressure chamber reduces the time of embalming and improves safety of the embalmer when working with formaldehyde-containing substances.
“Year after year the show is getting better and bigger. The fact that the show is changing its concept, but sticks to the basic idea of promoting the industry, encouraged not only professionals but also ordinary citizens. The funeral industry - an integral part of our everyday life, and the fact that we are no longer regarded as criminals, corrupt officials and anyone else, is partly thank to the organizers of “Necropolis”, - summed up the President of the Union of Funeral Organizations and Crematoriums, Pavel Kodysh.
Watch soon for a radical change in the concept of Necropolis, new cultural events and professional challenges at the 20th Anniversary Exhibition “Necropolis” next year.
On April 26-27, 2012, Novosibirsk will traditionally host the regional exhibition of funeral art “Necropolis-Siberia-2012”
