A musician who played at many bars and festivals around the Moorlands has died suddenly.
Simon Clewlow of Cheadle, Staffordshire, died on March 19 at the age of just 39.
In a tribute to Simon, his wife Jessica said: “After a short battle he really wasn’t prepared for, and with his family by his side, we said our goodbyes to the most amazing husband, son, brother, uncle and musician that we could ever have wished for.
“As a family we want to thank anyone whoever showed kindness or befriended our beautiful Simon, we know he had so many friends and it’s impossible to inform you all personally.
“We are truly heartbroken to have lost him but feel so very proud, lucky and extremely honoured that he was ours.
“Sweet dreams to my best friend and soulmate and thank you for the incredible memories you have shared and created with me over our years together.”
Simon’s sister, Jennie Bradbury, said: “Simon was a well known local musician who played many bars and festivals around Cheadle.
“Simon passed away unexpectedly on March 19 at the young age of just 39 years old only 19 days before his 40th birthday.
“He was a local musician and his song ‘Devil on my shoulder’ recently made it to number 1 in the iTunes country chart and number 34 in all genre. He grew up in Cheadle and lived here most of his life apart from his time spent travelling France, Italy and the USA.
“His tributes on Facebook are a wonderful example of just how well known and loved he was.”
Simon’s funeral will take place on Tuesday, April 5 at 3pm at Carmountside followed by refreshments at Cheadle Cricket Club. The family ask that you join them for a service to celebrate his life.
The procession will leave his home at Froghall Road, which he shared with his loving wife Jessica.
Simon will be leaving his home at 2.20pm and the funeral procession will take him on one final trip around his home town, past the many places where he played music; Froghall Road, Leek Road, Bank Street, Cheadle High Street, then onto Carmountside. Anyone who sadly cannot attend the funeral that wishes to give him a wave please feel free to do so.
Many people have paid tribute to Simon on Facebook.
Comments received include: “So sad to hear this news, what a gent RIP me old mate”; “It still hasn’t sunk in, it’s so cruel”; “One of the kindest souls of anyone I’ve ever met. A talented musician, an even better human. RIP; and “Still stunned by the awful news.”
