Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 9) — Jovit Baldivino, the first-ever winner of “Pilipinas Got Talent,” died on Friday, Dec. 9, his former handler in Star Magic confirmed.
Citing information from Baldivino’s parents and fiancé, Jerry Telan said the singer died at 4 a.m. after being “comatose” for five days. He was 29 years old.
According to the statement posted on Telan’s Instagram account, Baldivino was rushed to the Jesus of Nazareth Hospital in Batangas on the night of Dec. 3 after having trouble breathing following a song performance.
Telan said before the incident, Baldivino was advised by his doctor not to sing as he had been “recuperating for a week with hypertension maintenance medicines.”
“Then he was invited by a family friend from Batangas City…Knowing "Bundoy" (Jovit), he gave in to clamor of the crowd. He sang 3 signature songs including Faithfully by Journey. He was gasping for breath on the 3rd song,” read Telan’s post, adding Baldivino was brought to the hospital the same night.
The artist agent said results of Baldivino’s CT scan showed “a blood clot in the brain (sign of aneurysm).”
After winning Season 1 of Pilipinas Got Talent in 2010, Baldivino released a number of albums, and some of his hit songs include "Pusong Bato," and "Ikay' Mahal Pa Rin."
