Greetings from Sergey Yakushin, President of «Necropolis»
Dear participants and visitors of Necropolis-2010!
It is for the 18th time that we get together in Moscow. I am pleased with this circumstance and particularly glad to welcome old friends and over 30 new participants.
Death, as life itself, is a complex, multifaceted happening. One can not treat it as a purely negative phenomenon. Religions of the world say: death is not the end of the road but a start of new life. The mission of our exhibition is to revive memorial and funeral culture, spirituality, philosophical and ideological understanding of death, change people's consciousness in relation to it.
Another objective of our forum, as well as any industrial exhibition is to showcase scientific and technical achievements. As always, this year’s event will shown a lot of technical and design innovations.
Traditionally, Necropolis will become a platform for discussing normative and legal regulation in the funeral business, work on problems of the funeral industry, serve as platform for discussion and exchange of experiences.
During the year since the last exhibition, the organizers had done a great job. We revived the tradition of regional exhibitions. In April we held exhibition in Krasnoyarsk – Necropolis-Siberia - 2010. Together with the Union of Funeral Organizations and Crematoria we held the conference "Modern aspects of funeral business." Great interest was shown to the theme of "Ideological aspects of cremation" discussed at the third international scientific Conference "Death and mortal people."
Special event was the historical and educational exhibition "Funeral Fashion of Past Centuries. Historical reconstruction of mourning dresses XVIII-XIX centuries ", which was held at the exhibition in Moscow last year. However, Krasnoyarsk was not the only city, where this exposition was staged. From 6 June to 22 August mourning dresses were displayed in the German Textile Museum in Krefeld. The collection went to the exhibition halls in Barcelona, Paris, Vienna, Amsterdam and Warsaw. In 2011, the dresses will go to Colombia and Mexico.
This year we continue the tradition launched two years ago – art exhibitions at Necropolis.
I wish success to the participants of the exhibition, achieving all their goals and pleasant experiences!
