Guwahati: Renowned Odia and Bengali singer Nirmala Mishra breathed her last at the age of 81 on Sunday morning.
Mishra passed away after suffering a massive heart attack.
While addressing to national media reports the doctor said, the musician was pronounced dead at the local nursing home after suffering a massive heart attack around 12:05 in the morning.
Nirmala Mishra, who was born in 1938 in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas area, was given the Sangeet Sudhakar Balakrushna das Award for her lifelong contributions to Odia music.
Bolo to Arshi, “Eai Banglar Mati Te,” and “Eamon Ekta Jhinuk” are some of her well-known Bengali songs.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed condolences over the demise of the veteran singer.
