A new poster for Army of the Dead zombifies some tattoo art and looks incredibly cool in the process. Director Zack Snyder's first non-DCEU film since 2011's Sucker Punch is set to hit Netflix this Friday after a limited run in theaters and it is an understatement to say the film is highly anticipated. Snyder has garnered a rabid fanbase over the last decade and that has allowed the divisive director to experiment with his aesthetic style through a blockbuster lens. Army of the Dead may be one of his biggest yet.

The film, which represents a return to the zombie genre after Snyder's 2004 George Romero remake Dawn of the Dead, will follow a group of ragtag mercenaries into the Nevada desert in search of a big payout. What they're not expecting, of course, is a near-insurmountable horde of zombies, some of which are smarter and faster than normal. All of this will be coupled with a distinctly Vegas vision, with bright neon lights and even a zombie Elvis.

This vision translates to a new poster shared by Snyder that takes on the tattoo art style with some Vegas flair. A zombie showgirl takes centerstage in the colorful poster, wielding a scythe and lording over an unseen army. The bright yellow background mirrors the desert sun that will be beating down on the group of mercenaries as they make their way through Sin City. The ground below the zombie queen is, unsurprisingly, littered in skulls. Check out the full poster below.

Netflix is betting big on Snyder's zombie universe. In addition to the flagship film, Army of the Dead will also get a prequel film in Army of Thieves, centered around Matthias Schweighöfer's safe cracker Ludwig Dieter. Snyder also has an anime-style animated prequel series in the works. Still, much excitement surrounds Army of the Dead as Netflix's most high-profile blockbuster of the summer season. The streamer has made a concerted effort to bolster its slate of original films, nabbing studio fare originally intended for theaters.

Years before it actually went into production, Army of the Dead was originally meant for a major studio, Snyder's former home Warner Bros. The zombie movie seems to have found the perfect home at the streamer, though, and Snyder may have found a new collaborative partner that is more flexible when it comes to his style and storytelling. Of course, Army of the Dead still has to premiere to a general audience and while critics have taken more kindly to it than some of the director's DCEU fare, it seems like, at the end of the day, it's the fan's voices that really matter to Snyder.
